Tuesdays/Wednesdays
7:00am to 10:00pm/Breakfast or 10:30 to 1:00 pm/Lunch – Come and help us prepare and serve breakfast or lunch. You’ll be interacting with the amazing staff as well as our homeless and low-income guests. If you are there mid-morning, you’ll also get to hear the devotion that is lead by various guest speakers. If you stay to serve lunch, you’ll have the extra treat of getting to hear the sermon and even the Harvest Center band. Extremely uplifting!
Harvest Center Achievers Class
Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays
10:00 to 11:30am – We offer a literacy and life-skills class for staff members and guests, primarily adults. Enjoy getting to know some of the people who have been transformed by the Harvest Center, and watch as they transform you. No experience necessary! We assist the students in reading and math skills, develop self-esteem, play games, and encourage students to achieve their goals, whatever they may be.
Organize: Harvest Center’s Food Pantry and Clothing Closet
Tuesdays/Wednesdays
10:00am to 12:00am – The Harvest Center distributes more food than any other agency in Charlotte. We need your assistance to organize the Harvest Center Food Pantry. You can also help by boxing groceries in preparation for distribution on Thursday.
9:00am to 1:00pm – Every Tuesday and Wednesday the Harvest Center distributes clothing to our program participants before and after lunch. We need assistance sorting clothing donations for our men, women and children in need.
Thursdays
7:00am to 12:00pm –Every Thursday the Harvest Center distributes groceries to our program participants. You can help by checking in our guests and distributing groceries. You will see just how great the need for groceries is in our city! Come by for as long as you can and enjoy the company of staff members and guests.
Knitting Class
Tuesdays
10:00am to 12:00pm – Enjoy a small group setting and get to know the ladies that make the beautiful hand-knitted products you see Anne Ranson selling at our meetings! Whether you knit, crochet, or just want to contribute to the fellowship, join us for this special time.
Youth Ministry Opportunities: Daycare and Basketball Program
Tuesdays/Wednesdays
Flexible schedule/Daycare – This is a new service created to help some of the Harvest Center residents who have children. The Harvest Center Residents have an obligation to work within the ministry; therefore we need caring individuals who can look after their little ones only a couple hours a day.
Thursdays
6:00-8:30 pm /Basketball Ministry – We provide a basketball league for boys and men (15-18 yrs) from low-income neighborhoods (Genesis Park) as well as local area shelters. Our league provides a safe haven & physical activity for participants, keeping them off the streets, as well as an opportunity for at-risk youths to develop a relationship with responsible role models.
Administrative Skills
Flexible schedule
There is a huge need for phone coverage, data-entry and other simple computer skills to assist the office staff at the Harvest Center. If you are interested in helping in this area, we will set up a schedule that works for you!
Other Opportunities
Flexible schedule
Donations- collecting and donating new and or gently used coats, and blankets, toiletries, plastic ware and napkins
