Before I found The Harvest Center, life felt like a maze with no exit. I was a mother trying to raise my son without any guidance, community, or tools to help me navigate the challenges of parenthood. There were no parenting courses. No mentors. No one to lean on. I was doing the best I could with what I had, but most days, it didn’t feel like enough.
Then came June of 2022. Everything I had managed to hold together unraveled. We lost everything — our home, our stability, our sense of safety. I was overwhelmed, heartbroken, and unsure how we’d ever recover, but that wasn’t the end of our story.
When I came to The Harvest Center, everything began to shift. I wasn’t just given a place to land, I was welcomed into a community. People showed up for me in ways I never expected. Neighbors watched my son when I needed help. Staff and volunteers created a space where I felt seen, heard, and safe. They prayed with me when I didn’t have the words, and encouraged me when I was too tired to encourage myself.
One of the most powerful moments in my journey came through Sha'Rhone Shingler, my Transformation Specialist. She looked me in the eyes and told me something I hadn’t allowed myself to believe: “You are enough.” In that moment, something in me began to heal. She reminded me that I already had what I needed to be the mother my son deserved, I just needed someone to help me see it.
When I completed the program, I didn’t leave empty-handed. I walked away with tools, confidence, and continued support that’s still available to me today. I am no longer overwhelmed by motherhood — I walk in it with purpose, grace, and strength. I now know I am a nurturing, capable mother, and I have The Harvest Center community — and people like you — to thank for that.
This is what transformation looks like. It’s not just about shelter or programs. It’s about being surrounded by people who believe in you before you believe in yourself. It’s about healing, rebuilding, and becoming who you were always meant to be.
Thank you for helping make that possible, not just for me, but for so many others like me. Because of your support, I didn’t just find a way forward… I found a new beginning.
