More Than a Second Chance: Kenneth’s Journey of Faith, Purpose, and Love
Sometimes the hardest decision isn’t asking for help. It’s recognizing that your life needs to change and choosing to do something about it.
In 2015, Kenneth Bridges was experiencing homelessness in Charlotte, North Carolina. Although he had family members he could have lived with, Kenneth knew he needed more than a temporary place to stay. He needed an opportunity to rebuild his life, discover his purpose, and become the man he believed God was calling him to be.
That decision led him to The Harvest Center of Charlotte.
For Kenneth, having a stable place to live meant he could focus on what mattered most. He was able to spend time with his children, build meaningful relationships, and begin the difficult work of personal transformation.
“I was learning my identity while God was dealing with me,” Kenneth shared.
As he progressed through the program, Kenneth began finding purpose in serving others. He cut hair for fellow residents, helped Mrs. Isabella in the kitchen, and eventually became a resident advisor, a leadership role that allowed him to encourage and support others walking through similar challenges.
He also secured employment with Coca-Cola, taking another important step toward independence and financial stability.
But one of the most unexpected blessings of Kenneth’s journey was finding love.
During his time at The Harvest Center, Kenneth often encouraged a young woman who was also part of the community. Eleven years later, that woman is his wife.
Today, Kenneth is a devoted husband and supportive father who continues to grow in his faith and embrace the lessons life brings.
“I’m still in the hands of God,” he shared. “I pray, I am a supportive father and husband, I appreciate the life God has created for me.”
Kenneth is still working toward important goals, including owning a home and securing a vehicle for his household. He recognizes that transformation doesn’t happen overnight. It is a lifelong journey of learning, growing, and remaining committed to becoming better.
Looking back, Kenneth remembers more than the stability and resources he received. He remembers the ministry, the relationships, the encouragement, and the people who believed in him when he was learning to believe in himself.
Years later, his gratitude remains deeply personal.
“We will never forget your labor of love.”
Kenneth entered The Harvest Center searching for stability and a new direction. What he discovered was an opportunity to rebuild his life, strengthen his relationship with God, and create a future centered on faith and family.
And while his journey is far from finished, Kenneth remains confident that his greatest blessings are still ahead.
