Destinee came to The Harvest Center Charlotte as a single mother to three young boys. After living in a toxic environment that longer felt safe for her or her children, she reached out to THCC. Destinee was struggling and confused with life, and had no other outside resources to help her and her family.
The Harvest Center gave this young family the hand-up they needed by providing them with a safe environment where they could thrive, and food security that they didn’t have before. While at the Center, Destinee attended classes where she learned the necessary steps and actions needed to become a homeowner, and the tools she needed to follow strict financial boundaries to establish a budget for herself. During the course of her stay, she was able to save the money she needed to get family on their feet again.
Destinee is now taking the steps to purchase a home, but says that The Harvest Center will always be a family and home to her. After receiving the spiritual and emotional support she needed, she now has the confidence she needed to get a secondary education, and is currently studying surgical technology.
