After deciding to remove her daughters from an unhealthy environment, Maria found herself needing a place to call home. Finding a program that could house her family was no easy task, but she was fortunate to connect with one of our Community Partners, Hope House Foundation, who referred her to The Harvest Center of Charlotte (THCC) once she had completed their program. Maria entered the CLT Passport Program determined to change the trajectory of not only her future, but the futures of her three daughters.
Since joining our community, Maria has successfully completed various classes which have led to her obtaining a higher position in her career field of choice. She has also adopted new positive parenting skills that have bonded her closer to her daughters. “While being at THCC, I have realized that I can stand on my own two feet, as a single mother, and accomplishing everything I need to make a better life for me and my girls. I have gained my independence back and have gained new organizational skills,” said Maria.
When asked what advice she would give anyone entering the CLT Passport Program, Maria responded with “Trust the process and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the program. When it looks and feels tough, that’s just the start of your transformation, so just hold on.”
